I didn't realize the execution site was on or near Mr. Bobb's property. I had assumed that the site was chosen because it was considered a good, out of the way place for an execution, but your assumption could be right.

For Information - I wonder is this some sort of grim justice.
John H Bobb is said to be the First White Man murdered by Black Union Solciers, in the Vicksburg area, during the Reign of Terror sometimes referred to as Reconstruciton,
Mr. Bobb was Murdered in May 1864,
Mr. Bobb Lived next door to and it would certainly appear O'Neil's Bottom was a part of his property,
South Streets runs through it today - East End of South Street.
Do you suppose this was a double meaning,
Nothing was ever done concerning Mr. Bobb's Murder
A grim Justice, hanging this men near the spot where Mr Bobb ws Murdered and upon his proptety - I wonder.

So very many parallel memories of Clermont Harbor. For me they date back to the middle 1930s, when our house was facing Forest Avenue, before it was moved to the corner of Beach and Forest. Fish and crabs at our front door almost (before the sand beach existed).
